OW2 participated in this event as co-sponsor. Highlights of this event include:
- presentation of OW2 by Cedric Thomas (OW2 CEO) during the Award Ceremony.
- introduction to the OW2 code base and its technical infrastructure by Alexandre Lefebvre (OW2 CTO)during the International Workshop on Open Source Software Research,
- enthusiastic response to our call for volunteers to help us proof-read the upcoming OW2 Web site in Chinese,
- meeting with Dr. LI Shi to prepare the 2009 event in which we plan to have in parallel a Scilab and an OW2 programing contest.

Conference theme : 2008 SCILAB Contest and Workshop will pursue the spirit of ?Freedom, Sharing, and Cooperation?; advocate the application of open source software, and promote the development of open source software in China.
Objectives of the contest :
- To advocate the spirit of freedom and co-creation in scientific research.
- To promote the application of scientific computation software in education throughout China.
- To promote the use of legal software in China.
- To accelerate the development of open source software in China.
- To enhance the exchange and collaboration between France and China.
- To explore new cooperation models between industries and universities.
